NBA Game Summary - Washington at Houston

Houston, TX (Basketball News) - Tracy McGrady scored 34 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Houston Rockets to a 123-93 rout of the Washington Wizards at the Toyota Center.

Yao Ming added 23 points, nine rebounds and four blocks for the Rockets, who have won eight straight. Juwan Howard and David Wesley had 18 points apiece for Houston, which used a huge fourth-quarter run to put the game well out of reach.

Antawn Jamison had 23 points and seven boards for the Wizards, who came up winless on a three-game road trip. Gilbert Arenas was held to only 11 points, but had nine assists for Washington, which had won four in a row before going on the road.

Already holding a double-digit lead, 100-87, the Rockets put the game away with a 19-2 burst in the final stanza. McGrady scored 13 of his points during the burst, which was capped by a Dikembe Mutombo bucket at the 2:10 mark for a 119-89 cushion.

Scott Padgett had 13 points for the Rockets, who have won seven of nine and 10 of 13 at home.

Washington trailed only 35-30 after 12 minutes of play, but Jon Barry recorded his only points of the game when he drained back-to-back trees to give the Rockets a 46-35 lead.

The Wizards, who went into halftime down 62-49, got within nine six different times in the third, but couldn’t get only closer and headed into the fourth down 91-77.

Jarvis Hayes had 21 points for Washington, which has lost seven of nine as the visitor.

Houston hit 12-of-24 three-pointers after going 0-for-11 on Sunday night in an 81-80 win over Portland...Brendan Haywood had 16 points for Washington...The Rockets shot 60 percent from the field...Washington went for 42 percent from the floor...Washington has lost 18 of its last 20 in Houston.
