Evans out as coach at Southern Utah 03.6.2007

Evans had spent the last 15 years as head coach. He guided the Thunderbirds to a 16-14 record this past season and a 209-223 mark during his tenure. Since becoming head coach he has guided the team to more wins than any other SUU coach and he guided the Thunderbirds to their only NCAA basketball tournament appearance, in 2001.
"This is one of the hardest decisions Ive had to make," Southern Utah athletic director Ken Beazer said. "Bill Evans has been synonymous with Southern Utah basketball for nearly two decades. He’s done a lot for the program and for the University. He and his players have represented the University well."
Southern Utah lost to IUPUI in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament this past Sunnday.
