Sadler taking over Nebraska basketball

The University of Nebraska has called a news conference for 2 p.m. (et), when it’s expected the school will announce Sadler’s hiring.
The Lincoln Journal Star reported Monday night that Sadler would become the replacement for Barry Collier, who last week decided to resign as the head coach to take a position as Butler’s athletic director.
Sadler has coached the Miners the last two seasons, compiling a record of 48-18 and into the postseason each time. UTEP was in the NCAA Tournament in 2005 and to the NIT this year.
The 2005-06 Miners went 21-10 and finished 11-3 in Conference USA. UTEP’s accomplishments were remarkable last season, considering the team’s top six scorers were on the floor for only 10 games all season. The 2005-06 Miners yielded only 59.5 points per game.
In 14 years as a Division I coach — including 12 as an assistant — Sadler has been associated with teams that have been to the postseason 11 times, including eight NCAA Tournament appearances.
The Cornhuskers haven’t been to the NCAA Tournament since 1998 with a first- round loss to Arkansas. In fact, Nebraska has never won an NCAA Tournament game.
Collier led Nebraska to a mark of 89-91 in six years, reaching the NIT twice. The Cornhuskers were 19-14 last season.
