San Luis Obispo, CA (Basketball News) - Ian Boylan netted a game-high 26 points and grabbed six boards in leading the Cal State-Northridge Matadors to an 81-70 victory over the Cal Poly Mustangs in Big West Conference action from Mott Gymnasium.
Eto Onyenegecha added 19 points and five boards for the Matadors (10-12, 6-8 BWC), who snapped a brief two-game slide. Davin White turned in 17 points behind 5-of-8 long-range attempts, while Thomas Shewmake registered a double- double with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the winning effort.
Varnie Dennis led the Mustangs (8-13, 3-10) with a double-double that consisted of 18 points and 10 rebounds. The loss was Cal Poly’s fourth in a row.
The Mustangs shot 53.8 percent from the floor in the first half, taking a 38-26 lead into the break.
In the second stanza, CS-Northridge converted 22-of-26 free-throw attempts, as it came from behind for the 11-point victory.
The Matadors forced Cal Poly into 27 turnovers in which they generated 33 points from in the win.
