NCAA Game Summary - Iowa State at Florida State

Tallahassee, FL (Basketball News) - Jake Sullivan scored 19 points to lead the Iowa State Cyclones to a 62-59 win over the Florida State Seminoles in the second round of the NIT from the Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center.

The victory propels Iowa State (19-12) into the quarterfinal round against either Marquette or Boise State on Friday.

Curtis Stinson added 13 points for the Cyclones, while Jared Homan collected 11 points and nine rebounds.

Adam Waleskowski tallied a double-double of 14 points and 10 boards for Florida State (19-14), but the Seminoles saw their tourney run come to an end. Alexander Johnson chipped in another 12 points in the setback.

Leading 19-16 midway through the first half, Iowa State scored 10 unanswered points en route to a 33-20 advantage at the intermission.

Florida State outscored the Cyclones 39-29 in the second stanza, but Iowa State held on for the three-point win. The Cyclones survived despite going the final 2:58 of regulation without a field goal.

Iowa State finished at 40.7 percent from the field for the game, while the Seminoles shot just 34.4 percent from the floor and 23.5 percent (8-of-34) from beyond the arc. Tim Pickett was especially off the mark for Florida State, hitting just 1-of-13 from long distance.

Rebounding also fell in Iowa State’s favor, as the Cyclones earned a 46-37 edge on the glass.
