NCAA Game Summary - UNC-Wilmington at William & Mary

01.19.2005

Williamsburg, VA (Basketball News) - Ed Spencer posted a game-high 11 points off the bench for the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington in a 54-49 victory over the William & Mary Tribe in Colonial Athletic Association play from William and Mary Hall.

Taylor Lay added nine points in a reserve role for the Seahawks (10-5, 5-1 CAA) as they won their third straight game.

Nathan Mann was the only double-digit scorer for the Tribe (4-11, 0-6) with 10 points as the team remained winless in league play this season after six tries.

The Tribe shot 43.5 percent from the field in the first half and connected on 3-of-5 beyond the arc, but the squad made just 2-of-7 at the free-throw line, which allowed Wilmington to take a 30-25 lead at the break.

In the second half both teams had trouble finding the range as the Seahawks made just seven total field goals, W&M a mere eight, but the visitors made up for it by sinking 7-of-9 at the charity stripe in taking the five-point road win.

The Tribe cost itself a shot at the win by making only 8-of-16 chances at the free-throw line.
