Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - Keith Van Horn netted 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in leading the Milwaukee Bucks to a 94-80 win over the Atlanta Hawks at the Bradley Center.
Michael Redd also had 23 for the Bucks, who snapped a three-game skid. Van Horn earned 13 of his points from the line in 14 attempts in the win, the 11th in the last 13 for Milwaukee against the Hawks on its home court.
"It wasn’t our best game of the year," said Milwaukee coach Terry Porter. "But it was a win. When you come off three losses, any win is pretty to us."
Jason Terry paced Atlanta with 20 points, as the Hawks lost their fourth contest in a row and ninth out of 11. Chris Crawford added 18 in the loss to go with nine boards. Bob Sura had a nice game off the bench with 12 points and a team-high 11 boards in 31 minutes.
The game was square at 21 apiece until Atlanta tallied seven straight points, five by Terry, to assume a 28-21 edge with about a minute to play in the opening stanza.
The Hawks were ahead 30-23 early in the second until Milwaukee mounted a 12-2 run to take the lead with the help of three field goals by Redd.
The Bucks finished out the half with five straight points, taking a 46-40 margin into the locker room. Redd led all scorers with 14 points, while Terry paced the Hawks with 11. Sura added 10 off the bench.
After a Stephen Jackson trey got Atlanta within 62-59 with four minutes to go in the third frame, Damon Jones sparked an 8-2 spurt as the Bucks jumped out to a 70-61 margin after 36 minutes of action.
Redd netted five consecutive points to stake Milwaukee to its biggest lead to that point at 75-63. Then, Crawford and Jackson combined for all seven points during a 7-2 stretch that narrowed the gap to 77-70 with just under eight minutes remaining.
The difference remained at seven, 83-76, until the Bucks put Atlanta away with a 9-2 rally to make it a 92-78 game.
"It was an ugly game," Van Horn said. "I thought we played much better defensively. Offensively, we moved the ball and played together, but we weren’t shooting the ball as well. Our defense is what carried us and that’s what we needed to do."
