NBA Game Summary - Charlotte at Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA (Basketball News) - Allen Iverson scored 30 of his game-high 48 points in the first half, as Philadelphia built a big lead and held on for a 106-103 victory over Charlotte at the Wachovia Center. The NBA’s leading scorer added eight assists and seven rebounds and played the entire 48 minutes.

Marc Jackson netted 13 for the Sixers, who had a 25-point lead only to escape with a three-point victory. Samuel Dalembert and Josh Davis each had 10 points, while Andre Iguodala led the Sixers with 11 rebounds.

The Sixers, who have won two straight after a three-game skid, remain 3 1/2 games behind Boston for first place in the Atlantic Division. Philadelphia is seventh in the Eastern Conference.

Primoz Brezec scored 23 with 10 boards for Charlotte, which has lost six straight. Emeka Okafor added 14 with 10 rebounds in the loss.

Iverson made 7-of-10 shots in the first quarter and finished the frame with 17 points to lead the Sixers to a 36-23 advantage. Leading 45-37 in the second quarter, Philadelphia ran off 17 unanswered points for a 62-37 lead.

Iverson had seven points in the run and Davis capped it with a three to give the Sixers a 25-point cushion.

The Sixers, who led by seven after three quarters, were ahead by only one after a pair of free throws by Cory Alexander with 34.4 seconds remaining cut the Philadelphia lead to 104-103. After Iverson missed a jumper and Dalembert failed to convert the follow, the Bobcats had a chance to take their first lead of the game.

Gerald Wallace, however, dribbled the ball off his foot and out of bounds with 3.4 seconds remaining and Kyle Korver made two free throws to give the Sixers a 106-103 lead.

The Bobcats had one final chance with 2.8 seconds left, but Iverson knocked away the long inbounds pass as time expired.

Iverson has scored 40-plus points a franchise record 58 times. The Sixers are 40-18 in those contests. Philadelphia is 7-1 this season when Iverson reaches the 40-point mark...The 66 points in the first half was a season-high for points in a half for Philly...Sixers forward Chris Webber missed his third straight game with a sprained left shoulder.
