East Rutherford, NJ (Basketball News) - Vince Carter scored 25 points to lead New Jersey past Golden State, 118-90, at Continental Airlines Arena.
Jason Kidd contributed 24 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds for the Nets, who have won two straight following a three-game losing streak. Richard Jefferson and Nenad Krstic both netted 17 points in the win.
Troy Murphy scored 19 points and Baron Davis chipped in 18 for the Warriors, who have dropped two of their last three contests.
The game was never close, courtesy of New Jersey’s hot shooting. The Nets hit a season-high 46 field goals and connected on 58 percent of their shots, which included a 10-of-20 effort from three-point range.
New Jersey took control from the onset as it jumped out to a 15-4 lead courtesy of six points by Kidd and four from Jefferson. Golden State did close within two points, but the Nets ended the quarter on a 13-2 surge, highlighted by a pair of three-pointers from Kidd, to grab a 37-24 lead after one.
In the second, New Jersey continued to widen its edge as Jefferson’s basket near the midpoint of the quarter made it a 19-point game. Following a bucket, the Nets used a 9-0 run, keyed by Jefferson’s four points, and ballooned the margin to 57-31. The Nets eventually led 66-39 at the half.
Kidd went 7-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-5 from behind the arc, and scored 18 points for New Jersey, which hit a blistering 64 percent of its shots in the first half. Davis had 14 points for Golden State, which was just 13-of-40 from the field in the opening 24 minutes.
It was more of the same in the second half, as the Nets increased the lead to as many as 33 points.
The Warriors, who never led, were just 29-of-76 from the floor (38 percent).
