Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - Reggie Miller finished with 22 points, as the Indiana Pacers breezed to a 90-76 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center.
Stephen Jackson netted 13 points and Anthony Johnson added 12 points and seven assists for the Pacers, who have won three of their last four games and moved one game ahead of Philadelphia for the seventh playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers lost in Sacramento on Monday.
Fred Jones and Dale Davis chipped in 10 points apiece for the Pacers.
"We are just trying to survive right now and our guys are hanging in there," said Pacers coach Rick Carlisle. "We really don’t have an inside presence with our big people."
Michael Redd posted 14 points for the Bucks, who have tied a season high with six straight losses. Dan Gadzuric collected 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss, while Anthony Goldwire netted 11 points.
"Very sluggish," said Bucks coach Terry Porter. "We just didn’t have any energy nor life about us."
The Pacers started the game on a 10-4 run and would hold a 27-19 edge after one quarter of play. The lead grew as large as 13 points in the second quarter after Johnson’s dunk made it 45-32 with 1:23 left. Indiana would then take a 45-34 advantage into the locker room at the half.
Jackson led all scorers with 13 points, while Redd paced the Bucks with 11 points.
Indiana continued to roll in the third quarter, as it outscored the Bucks, 29-16, in the period to blow the game open. Milwaukee had cut the deficit to 56-47 with 5:13 left in the third after a pair of layups by Gadzuric, but the Pacers capped the period on a 13-4 burst to take a commanding 74-50 cushion into the final quarter.
The Pacers would lead by as many as 26 points in the fourth quarter and they coasted to the victory.
