Memphis, TN (Basketball News) - Michael Redd returned after missing the last two games and scored 23 points as the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Memphis Grizzlies, 88-78, at the Bradley Center.
Jamaal Magloire contributed 17 points and 11 boards and Andrew Bogut had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bucks, who snapped a two-game losing streak and have won three of their last five games. Bobby Simmons netted 12 points in the victory.
Pau Gasol paced the Grizzlies with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Mike Miller and Brain Cardinal scored 12 apiece in the loss, Memphis’ second in a row and fourth in its last five contests.
With the scored tied 48-48, Milwaukee went on a 10-1 streak. However, Memphis responded with a 9-0 run, highlighted by Bobby Jackson’s four-point play with 3:04 remaining in the stanza. The Bucks led 66-64 heading into the final frame.
Milwaukee led 70-64 on a pair of Simmons free throws, but the Grizzlies went on a 9-2 rally, capped by Gasol’s dunk, to grab a 73-72 edge with 6:06 to play.
However, the Bucks countered with a 16-5 run to close the game, including six points from Magloire and a three-point play from T.J. Ford.
The Bucks led 14-12 before they reeled off a 19-9 spurt, capped by Charlie Bell’s layup, to close the frame and make the score 33-21 after 12 minutes of play. Milwaukee dished out 12 assists on 14 field goals in the first quarter.
The Grizzlies outscored the Bucks 21-8 in the second period, including eight points from Cardinal, to lead 42-41 at the half. Milwaukee converted only three field goals and tied a franchise low for points in a quarter.
