NBA Game Summary - Milwaukee at New York

02.16.2005

New York, NY (Basketball News) - Jamal Crawford had a game-high 23 points and six New York players scored in double figures to lead the Knicks to a 108-90 win over the Milwaukee Bucks at Madison Square Garden.

Crawford added a season-high six steals for the Knicks, who go into the All- Star break having won two of their last three games. Mike Sweetney had 18 points and nine boards and Kurt Thomas tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds for New York, which recorded its largest margin of victory this season on head coach Herb Williams’ 47th birthday.

Stephon Marbury and Anfernee Hardaway each had 14 points and Tim Thomas had 11 to round out the double-digit scores for the Knicks.

"I was just happy to sit over there," said Marbury on sitting out the fourth quarter. "One, because we were winning. Two, because of the rest."

Tony Kukoc had 20 points and six boards to lead the Bucks, who played without star guard Michael Redd. Desmond Mason recorded 18 points for Milwaukee, which has lost two in a row.

"I thought we did an okay job for three quarters," said Kukoc. "We just allowed their bench to come in and out play us. When you have something like that happen there’s nothing you can do."

Leading 80-76 after three quarters, the Knicks held Milwaukee to only 14 fourth-quarter points to secure the win. Seven straight points to start the frame for New York extended the lead to 11 points.

Later a Jerome Williams jumper gave the club a 96-83 cushion and sent the Knicks on their way.

Joe Smith and Dan Gadzuric each had 12 points for the Bucks, who have split a pair of games with the Knicks this season.

Milwaukee, which shot 42 percent for the game, led 27-26 at the end of one quarter. New York, which went for 56 percent from the field, led 55-50 at halftime.

Redd continues to nurse a finger injury that has had him miss three games in a row.

New York has won three of four versus the Bucks...Milwaukee fell to 11-21 when it scores under 100 points...The Bucks have lost eight of 11 on the road...New York won for only the third time in nine home games...The Knicks are 4-10 under Williams...NY did not allow an offensive rebound in first quarter...Kurt Thomas recorded his 18th double-double of the season.
