San Antonio, TX (Basketball News) - Mike Bibby turned in a stellar all-around game with 31 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, as the Sacramento Kings turned in a surprising 95-83 rout of the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center.
Bonzi Wells netted 19 points and five steals for the Kings, who have won four of their last five games while moving to within one game of the idle Los Angeles Lakers for the seventh spot in the Western Conference playoff picture.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim added 16 points off the bench in the win.
Tony Parker paced San Antonio with 14 points and five assists as the Western Conference-leading Spurs had their four-game winning streak halted. Tim Duncan donated 11 points and six rebounds in defeat.
The Kings led 26-22 after the first quarter and then netted the first 10 points of the second to take a 36-22 advantage. Abdur-Rahim hit back-to-back jumpers to start the run and the forward later capped it with another jumper with 9:07 left in the second.
The Spurs cut it to seven, 40-33, midway through the frame courtesy of a 10-2 run, but Sacramento rebounded and carried a 56-43 lead into halftime.
Sacramento padded its lead in the third after a Bibby layup made it a 66-49 game with 5:28 remaining and the Kings led 79-61 after the conclusion of the third.
Parker tried to get the Spurs back into the game early in the fourth as he accounted for all of San Antonio’s points during an 8-2 burst that made it 81-69 with 9:07 left. The Kings, though, netted the next nine points to increase their lead to 90-69 with 6:14 remaining and never looked back.
Ron Artest added 15 points and six rebounds as Sacramento shot 46.8 percent from the floor. The Spurs, meanwhile, shot 40.3 percent from the floor.
