NBA Game Summary - San Antonio at New Orleans

New Orleans, LA (Basketball News) - Tim Duncan had 19 points and Manu Ginobili tallied 13 points and a season-high 10 assists to lead the San Antonio Spurs to 101-78 win over the New Orleans Hornets.

Rasho Nesterovic, Tony Parker and Malik Rose added 12 points apiece for the Spurs, who won for the second time in three outings. Rose also had 15 boards for San Antonio, which outrebounded the Hornets 30-13 in the second half and held New Orleans to a season-low five offensive boards in the game.

J.R. Smith had a career-high 25 points for New Orleans, which has dropped two of three. Dan Dickau added 13 points for the Hornets, who have lost all three contests against the Spurs this season.

The Spurs began to build a lead in the second quarter. After a Smith bucket gave the Hornets a 34-33 lead, Parker began a 10-2 run that gave the Spurs a seven-point lead. Parker had five points during the burst, which was capped by a three-point play by Duncan with a minute left in the half.

San Antonio eventually carried a 48-40 cushion into the third quarter and kept the Hornets at bay until pulling away in the fourth.

The Spurs, who led 68-59 heading into the final 12 minutes, went ahead 77-64 just 2 1/2 minutes into the period when Duncan tipped in a shot. Rose later made it a 15-point contest on a tip-in at the 7:39 mark, and Duncan extended it to a 20-point lead with a basket three minutes later to make it 90-70.

Devin Brown had 10 points for the Spurs, who trailed 18-17 after one quarter.

San Antonio hit 10 more shots from the floor, including three more from three- point range, and shot 46 percent for the game. The Hornets shot 44 percent for the contest.

Smith has scored 15 or more points in his last six games...New Orleans collected a season-high 12 blocked shots, led by Chris Anderson’s four...San Antonio outscored the Hornets 50-32 in the paint and 25-13 on second chance points...New Orleans went just 14-of-23 (61 percent) from the free throw line.
