NBA Game Summary - San Antonio at New Orleans/Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City, OK (Basketball News) - Tim Duncan had a game-high 17 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to an 84-68 win over the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets at the Ford Center.

Tony Parker scored 14 points and Nick Van Exel chipped in 13 off the bench for the Spurs, winners of two straight and six of their last seven games.

"We got to the boards, we made shots and it was a very good win," Parker said. "We played strong, we scored early and kept the lead throughout."

Brent Barry contributed 10 points in the win.

David West and Rasual Butler paced the Hornets with 15 points apiece. Chris Paul finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the loss, the Hornets’ second straight and third in four games.

"Well, we just didn’t make shots tonight," Paul said. "I think you have to give their defense credit but we didn’t make our normal open shots tonight."

San Antonio set the tone early and led by a 23-11 score after the first quarter. New Orleans/Oklahoma City then outscored San Antonio, 21-19, in the second period to pull within 42-32 at halftime.

The Spurs used a big third quarter, 24-12, to put the game out of reach. New Orleans/Oklahoma City trimmed the lead down in the final stanza, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a 16-point deficit.

San Antonio has won six of the last seven meetings with the Hornets.
