Catchings grabs WNBA Player of the Week honors Biography Catchings averaged 19.7 points and 9.0 rebounds while leading the Fever to three victories. The All-Star compiled 18 points, nine rebounds and eight steals in a 64-53 win over Connecticut on July 13, then racked up 20 points, 14 boards and five assists to help Indiana down Detroit two days later. Catchings capped the week with a 21-point effort in a 59-58 decision over Detroit on Sunday. The award is the second for Catchings this season and the seventh of her career. She was also named Player of the Week on June 20. Catchings currently leads the WNBA in steals (2.88/gm.) and ranks fourth in the league in rebounding (7.4), seventh in scoring (15.5) and eighth in assists (4.5). Others nominated for the award were Charlotte’s Jia Perkins, Connecticut’s Nykesha Sales, Detroit’s Deanna Nolan, Phoenix’s Penny Taylor, Sacramento’s Nicole Powell, Seattle’s Sue Bird and Washington’s DeLisha Milton-Jones.
