Minnesota has struggled through the early part of the 2006 season, compiling an 8-15 mark while sitting in the basement of the Western Conference.
In three-plus seasons at the helm, McConnell Serio guided the Lynx to a 58-67 record and two postseason appearances. The two-time Olympic medalist also took home the 2004 WNBA Coach of the Year award and departs with the most coaching victories in franchise history.
"Suzie’s legacy as a head coach of the Lynx is something that will not be forgotten. She guided the Lynx to our first-ever playoff appearance, and did a lot of good things both on and off the court," said Lynx chief operating officer Roger Griffith. "We wish her the best in the future."
One of McConnell Serio’s assistant coaches, Susan Yow, also announced her resignation Sunday after joining the staff at the beginning of the season.
