Monarchs forward Walker undergoes season-ending surgery

06.8.2007

Sacramento, CA (Basketball News) - Sacramento Monarchs forward DeMya Walker underwent season-ending surgery Friday to repair a torn patellar tendon in her right knee.

Walker, who suffered her injury in last Saturday’s 88-85 win over the Los Angeles Sparks, started all five of the Monarchs games this season and averaged 8.8 points and five rebounds in 21 minutes per game.

"We are relieved to know that Walker had a successful surgery," Monarchs general manager John Whisenant said. "She is an incredible athlete and we look forward to her return to the Monarchs roster next season."

Due to her rehabilitation, Walker has committed to remain in Sacramento for the upcoming 2007-08 offseason.
