The team did not give a reason why Adubato, whose Mystics’ started the season 0-4, quit not long before the squad’s home game against Chicago. Assistant Coach Tree Rollins will assume the position in the interim.
"Richie felt that it was in his best interest to leave our team," said Washington General Manager Linda Hargrove. "We wish him the best in his future endeavors and look forward to our game tonight. We are confident in the leadership that Tree Rollins can provide along with the rest of our assistant coaches, Marynell Meadors and Crystal Robinson."
Adubato joined the Mystics in April of 2005 and led the team to the playoffs in 2006 with an 18-16 record. The Mystics were 33-39 overall under Adubato.
