The Mystics sent forward/center Asjha Jones to the Sun, who then dealt the team’s eighth pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft to the Mercury.
"We are excited to add another talented guard to our roster," said Mystics senior vice president of business and basketball operations Judy Holland Burton. "Going into this season, we knew we needed to get a post player and increase our depth at the point guard position. After acquiring center Chasity Melvin in January’s dispersal draft, and now with the addition of Jackson, our mission is complete."
In 2003, Jackson started every game for Phoenix, finishing eighth in the league in assists with 146. She averaged 8.8 points, 4.3 assists with 2.4 rebounds per contest.
Jones, a first-round pick in 2002 WNBA Draft by Washington, averaged 7.5 points per game to go along with 3.4 rebounds in two seasons.
