Swoopes nabs WNBA Player of the Week honors Biography The two-time WNBA MVP and four-time champion averaged 25 points, 3.8 assists and 2.25 steals per game from May 21 - 30, helping the Comets to a 3-1 record. In a double-overtime victory last Saturday versus Indiana, Swoopes registered 31 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Houston is off to its best start since the 2001 campaign. Other candidates for the award were Chamique Holdsclaw of the Sparks, Lauren Jackson of Seattle, Charlotte’s Sheri Sam, Taj McWilliams-Franklin of the Sun, Indiana’s Tamika Catchings and Washington’s Charlotte Smith-Taylor.
