IUPUI will not renew contract of women’s hoops coach

Simpson’s current deal will expire on June 30, 2004. In nine seasons as the team’s coach she went 97-148, including a 7-21 mark last season.
"We appreciate Coach Simpson’s efforts to grow the IUPUI women’s basketball program," director of athletics Michael Moore said. "However, with the conclusion of the coach’s contract we have the opportunity to engage new leadership to make the Jaguars more competitive in the Mid-Continent Conference."
Simpson had the longest tenure of any IUPUI women’s head basketball coach and she was named the school’s first ever full-time women’s coach during the 1995-96 campaign.
