Tennessee routs Drake

Pittsburgh, PA (Basketball News) - Alexis Hornbuckle scored a game-high 14 points, as the top-seeded Tennessee Lady Vols rolled to a 76-37 win over the 16th-seed Drake Bulldogs in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Tournament.

Candace Parker tallied 13 points and six rebounds for the Lady Vols (29-3), who await Pittsburgh for a second-round date in the Dayton region. Shannon Bobbitt chipped in with 11 points, and Dominique Redding finished with 10 off the bench.

No players finished in double figures for Drake (14-19), although Lindsay Whorton led the way with nine points and no turnovers.

The Bulldogs opened the game by going 6-of-25 from the floor in the first half, as Tennessee built a 30-14 halftime lead.

The Lady Vols went on a 34-0 run that lasted until about the midway point of the second half, as they sealed the win by connecting on an impressive 20- of-33 field goal attempts over the final 20 minutes.

Tennessee committed only eight turnovers in the game, while Drake committed 19 and shot just 21.4 percent.
