Washington names Jackson coach 04.6.2007

Jackson helped guide the Blue Devils to the NCAA championship game in 2006 and the Sweet 16 this past season. Goestenkors left Duke earlier this week for the job at Texas.
"Tia is destined to be a super star. She has it all...she’s outgoing, she’s an incredible recruiter and she’s great with people. Washington is one fortunate university," said Goestenkors.
During her coaching career, Jackson spent six seasons as an assistant on the West Coast. During the 1999-2000 season, she served under Tara VanDerveer at Stanford and helped lead the Cardinal to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She then spent five seasons at UCLA as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for coach Kathy Olivier.
Jackson replaces June Daugherty, whose contract was not renewed following an 18-13 season. In her 11 seasons as the head women’s basketball coach at Washington, Daugherty compiled a 191-139 overall record.
