Brian McCormick is a thinker, a coach and a traveler. He has overcome his slow feet and poor defensive ability to coach professionally in Europe and conduct clinics in Cape Town, South Africa. Currently he resides in Portland, OR with his beautiful girlfriend, the Mt. Hood Community College Head Coach, who he also assists, so he’s got that going for him...Also, he is building his basketball fundamental skills academy, High Five Hoop School, which was formerly located in Sacramento, CA
(http://hi5hoopschool.tripod.com/academy). Befuddled by his inability to get a college coaching position, McCormick critiques players, coaches, leagues and the media on his blog,
http://highfivehoopschool.blogspot.com, and previously for sites such as Basketball Times, Inside Hoops and Draft City. He also has published a book on ball handling and a series of Coaching Guides through Basketball Sense. McCormick, a proud UCLA alumnus, is completing a Master’s in Sport Coaching, but finds time to delve into the philosophy of Ayn Rand, while also training for his first half-marathon this fall. He encourages more people to be like Howard Roark and also follow the mantra of Ty Webb (Chevy Chase) and "Be the Ball."
