Lewis Clinch added 17 points and Ra’Sean Dickey finished with 14 points and 10 boards for the Yellow Jackets (5-0), who will face either fifth-ranked UCLA or No. 20 Kentucky in Wednesday’s championship game.
Georgia Tech shot 32.3 percent in the opening 20 minutes and fell behind 46-30 at the half. However, it went 17-of-30 from the field in the second half to pull out the win.
Chris Douglas-Roberts had 26 points and seven rebounds for the Tigers (2-1), who struggled by going 11-of-26 over the final 20 minutes. Jeremy Hunt added 16 points and Antonio Anderson scored 15 for Memphis, which went 10-of-30 from three-point range.
Conversely, the Yellow Jackets made just 3-of-10 from beyond the arc, but made up for that by feasting at the free throw line and dominating on the boards. Georgia Tech went 35-of-50 from the charity stripe and outrebounded Memphis, 52-31.
