Patrick Ewing’s son leaving Indiana

03.30.2005

Bloomington, IN (Basketball News) - Indiana forward Patrick Ewing Jr. will transfer to another program at the end of the school year, Hoosiers head coach Mike Davis announced Wednesday.

Ewing, the son of retired NBA star and current Houston Rockets assistant coach Patrick Ewing, averaged 4.0 points and 3.8 rebounds in 29 games for the Hoosiers this past season.

"Pat is an exceptional athlete with a lot of potential, and we’re disappointed to see him go," Davis said. "We wish him nothing but the best."

Ewing started just five games in 2004-05, and said he would pursue options that might lead to more playing time.

"I would like to thank coach Davis for the chance to play at a storied program like Indiana, and I appreciate how coach Davis and the other coaches worked with me both on and off the court," Ewing said. "I’ve spent a lot of time with my family and given this decision a lot of thought, and I feel it is in my best interests to pursue my education and basketball career at another school."
