UC Irvine suspends second-leading scorer

Irvine, CA (Basketball News) - UC Irvine head coach Pat Douglass has suspended guard Mike Efevberha for violating team rules.

Efevberha is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.1 points per game. He has started 21 contests and leads UCI with 40 three-point baskets.

"At this time, I have suspended Mike indefinitely for violating team and department rules," Douglass said.

Senior Matt Okoro is expected to move into the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against Idaho. Okoro is averaging 4.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest this season.

The Anteaters sport a 10-14 record this season, including a 5-9 mark in the Big West.
