Missouri suspends Grimes 07.9.2007
|
The action comes after Grimes, who started 24 of Missouri’s 30 games last season and averaged 7.0 points and 5.6 rebounds, was involved in an undisclosed incident in the St. Louis suburb of Florissant over the weekend.
"I am extremely disappointed in the actions of Kalen Grimes and have suspended him indefinitely from our program," head coach Mike Anderson said. "With this suspension, Kalen will not be allowed to work out with our team and must take the necessary steps to not only earn the trust of his coaches and teammates, but the trust of Missouri’s alumni and fan base."
The program implemented a zero-tolerance policy last week after DeMarre Carroll was shot in the ankle during a disturbance outside a nightclub in Columbia.
"Although the circumstances surrounding both Kalen and DeMarre differ a great deal, I understand the cumulative effect these events can have on the perception of a program and want to assure our fans that these incidents will be dealt with appropriately," Anderson added.
