The top 5 most popular NBA jerseys
In the most recent data gathered, Lebron James topped the list of the NBA’s most popular jerseys.
Hoopsvibe’s quick call: Here is the list of the top 5 most popular NBA jerseys.
#5 – Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls, jersey #1
Rose has been sidelined all season with a knee injury but Bulls fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer because he is set to return any day now. D-Rose was medically cleared to play by doctors a few weeks ago but is taking his time with the recovery process; which is a smart move considering he’s Chicago’s franchise player and inked a $94 million deal with the organization in 2011. The Bulls need him to play and continue selling jerseys over the long term, not the short.
#4 – Carmelo Anthony, New York Knicks, jersey #7
Anthony’s Knicks are in second place overall in the Eastern conference, despite trailing the Miami Heat for the top spot by 12.5 games. And even though Melo has had to battle though injury this season, he’s still 2nd in the league in scoring, averaging 27.6 points per game.
#3 – Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers, jersey #24
The Black Mamba will be selling jerseys until the end of time. Bryant, in his 17th NBA season, is the league’s 3rd leading scorer averaging 27 ppg. When you watch Kobe in action, It’s almost hard to believe he’s played that long. He still looks like a 25-year old out there. It’s pretty impressive to consider that he’s gone out and scored almost 30 points a game every night for the past 17 years. Hence why his jersey sells like crazy. Being the poster-boy for the Lakers also probably doesn’t hurt.
#2 – Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder, jersey #35
Kevin Durant aka the Durantula might just be the best thing that’s ever happened to Oklahoma City. And perhaps the saddest thing that’s happened to Seattle. (Condolences to all my Sea-town peeps out there). Averaging 28.3 points per game this season, Durant is currently the league’s scoring leader. He was the NBA’s scoring champion last season with 28 ppg, so if he stays at the pace he’s on, he should claim the thrown once again.
#1 – Lebron James, Miami Heat, jersey #6
Regardless of all the LBJ haters out there, the dude’s jersey is still flying off the shelves. It’s probably due in large part to the fact that he truly is the most complete player in the game today. He does everything on the court; so much so, that it’s almost difficult to quantify his daily contribution. The Miami Heat are currently riding a 26-game win streak, and could extend that win streak to 27 on Monday with a win over the Orlando Magic.
Note: Jersey sale info came from NBA.com and were based on sales at the NBA store on 5th Ave in NYC and on NBAStore.com from April 2012 through November 26th 2012.
