5 Los Angeles Legends Pissed With Howard
These 5 Los Angeles legends are pissed with Dwight Howard's move tor Houston.
HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Howard's the first significant player to ever leave the Lakers for less money. LA egos and pride are definitely injured.
This entire NBA offseason revolved around Dwight Howard's decision and the many trade rumors that surrounded him. Not only were a number of teams positioning themselves to free money to potentially sway the big-man to their city, but the second his deal went through it set off a signing frenzy in the NBA. Once again, Dwight managed to be the linchpin to the entire NBA off-season, but with his decision to leave the Los Angeles Lakers he truly pissed off some west coast legends. Here's a quick run down of some of the Los Angeles legends that are pissed with Dwight Howard and what they had to say on the subject.
#1 Ice Cube comes out with a "F*ck Dwight Howard" to a huge applause at an LA concert.
# 2 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Kareem had this to say about Dwight's departure. “Dwight Howard is a perfect example of the fact that ‘potential has a shelf life." He went on to say, "Maturity-wise, he doesn’t get it."
Kareem wasn't done there. He also took this opportunity to express his opinion of Dwight's inability to do anything on offense besides dunk. "He gets the ball on offense, oh my God, he doesn’t know what to do. It’s usually a turnover, people come and take the ball from him or tie his arms up. Offensively, he doesn’t get it. Hasn’t made any progress."
#3 Shaquille O'Neal
Shaq has always been a big personality and in a lot of ways is similar to Dwight, but Shaq held nothing back stating, "It was expected. We've all been in L.A., and not a whole lot of people can handle being under the bright lights. Everybody wants to do it, but when you get there, there are certain pressures. I think it was a safe move for him to go to a little town like Houston. That's right, little town. I said it."
#4 Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol "unliked" Dwight on twitter. Ouch, now that one stings.
#5 Magic Johnson came out saying, "I'm not happy with Dwight Howard." I have to admit Magic, I was expecting a little more passion, but we'll take it for our list because you're a legend. In Magic's defense, he was advising Dwight that he should leave LA before this whole thing went down. See article here.
