Clippers Sign Antawn Jamison

Jamison moves across town from the Lakers to the Clippers.

HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: Jamison is a great fit for the Clippers. He still has plenty to give.

L.A. Lakers at the Dallas Mavericks

Antawn Jamison joined the talent-rich Los Angeles Clippers this week and brings his veteran leadership with him. It's no secret Jamison isn't the same player he was 8-years ago, but who among us is? Jamison is 37-years old and a 15-year veteran of the NBA. He is a two-time NBA All-Star (2005, 2008) and was chosen as the NBA's Sixth Man of the year in 2003-04. More important than any of those numbers is the fact is is a great fit for the Clippers.

His career stat line is impressive with 18.8 PPG, 7.6 RPG, and 1.7 APG. His more recent numbers are significantly down from their height as he only went for 9.4 PPG, and 4.8 RPG last season with the Lakers. It's also important to not Jamison is a class act.

The simple fact is that Jamison was a poor match for the already elderly Laker squad last season. The notoriously lacked chemistry, a cohesive offensive scheme, and transition defense. Jamison was rumored to be unhappy with how he was utilized in the debacle of a season. The Clippers are a much more natural fit and I would expect his numbers to increase. Plus, who doesn't like playing on a winner and with the Clippers putting up 56 Ws last season I'd expect Jamison to have nothing but smiles.
