Clippers “Back in Blue” Short-Sleeve Uniform.
Los Angeles Clippers never shy from fashion statements step out in baby blue this year.
HoopsVibe's Very Quick Call: You know what they say, all fashion starts in LA, so will the entire NBA be sporting these by next season?
The Los Angeles Clippers are definitely fashion forward. On their Media Day they unveiled a new "Back in Blue" short-sleeve alternate uniform that will be worn for Sunday home games this year. The baby blue short sleeve uniform will make its debut October 19th against the Denver Nuggets. It will be an ocean of blue.
The new uniform is designed by adidas and "inspired by the heritage of the Clippers organization and the Nautical culture of souther California." I'm really sure what any of that has to do with basketball, but it sure sounds good. Of course all the players are saying they love the new uniforms, but we will see what they say when they're not obligated to toe the line.
The "Back in Blue" uniform features light blue color for the first time since the team was based in San Diego. Vintage lives! Light blue has a rich history with the organization (plus, I look great in it) and has been a part of the team's identity since they were the Buffalo Braves in the 1970's. Plus, did I mention I look great in it.
The uniforms are part of the adidas and NBA Pride Uniform Collection, developed to give teams a unique uniform with rich details and colors indigenous to the team's region or history. Yes, they've actually identified colors with regions. I wonder what color Detroit is? The Clippers will wear the uniforms a total of eight times this season, so plan accordingly. The jerseys are on sale right now exclusively at the Team LA store at STAPLES Center, but I'm willing to bet they'll be selling them at every sporting good store in the Western United Sates by this Saturday. Hard to see them not wanting to turn a hefty profit on a cool new look.
