Illinois’ Williams suffers broken jaw
Champaign, IL (Sports Network) – Illinois guard Deron Williams suffered a
broken jaw during Thursday’s game against Maryland-Eastern Shore and will
likely be sidelined for the remainder of December.
Williams was hurt just over a minute into the second half of the 85-43 rout
when he collided with an Eastern Shore player. He left the court immediately
holding his jaw and was taken to a hospital for x-rays.
The sophomore scored five points and dished out four assists in Thursday’s
victory. He is averaging 12.9 points and 6.6 assists in seven games this
Williams will miss Saturday’s game against Memphis and will also likely sit
out games against Missouri and Illinois-Chicago. The Illini then face Illinois
State on January 3 before opening Big Ten play on January 7 against Ohio
