Bynum eligible to play for Georgia Tech on Saturday
Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) – Georgia Tech guard Will Bynum will be
eligible to play in the No. 10 Yellow Jackets’ game with Saint Louis on
Saturday in the opener of the Peach Bowl Classic doubleheader.
Bynum hasn’t played in a collegiate game since December 30, 2002, after
transferring from Arizona. Bynum was required to sit out two semesters at
Georgia Tech before taking the court with his new teammates.
The six-foot guard was known for his offensive outbursts at Arizona. In eight
games as a Wildcat last season, Bynum connected on 35 percent of his shots.
Bynum started nine games as a freshman and averaged 6.4 points, while Arizona
reached the Sweet 16 in 2001-02.
Georgia Tech entered this season unranked, but won the Preseason NIT,
including a 77-61 blowout victory over then-No. 1 Connecticut. The Jackets’
top-10 ranking is the program’s highest since January 11, 1993.
