ECU’s Mikulas done for the season

Greenville, NC (Sports Network) – The East Carolina Pirates will be without
their second-leading scorer for the remainder of the season, as forward
Gabriel Mikulas will be sidelined with a broken right arm.

The senior from Cordoba, Argentina ends his collegiate career as the
university’s 15th all-time leading scorer with 1,086 points.

Mikulas also is the ECU career-leader in free throws made (381) and ranks in
the top four in career free throw attempts, as well as field goal and free
throw percentage.

“This is a very unfortunate injury and a very unfortunate way for him to end
his career,” said ECU head coach Bill Herrion. “Gabe has been a very
consistent basketball player from day one and had an excellent career. I feel
extremely bad for him.”

Last season, Mikulas became the first Pirate basketball player to earn C-USA
Player of the Week honors, leading ECU to a 73-70 upset over ninth-ranked
Marquette, scoring 22 points and hauling down 11 boards.

He was second on the team in scoring and rebounding in 2003-04, posting 13
points and 6.8 rebounds per game while playing in all 12 contests.
