Majerus to resign at end of season
Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) – Utah head basketball coach Rick Majerus
has decided to leave his position with the school at the end of the season.
The 55-year-old Majerus was hospitalized late Tuesday night with health
problems. He began suffering chest pains at dinner on Tuesday. The problem
then got worse and caused pain to radiate down his left arm.
Majerus contacted his cardiologist in Santa Barbara, CA and the doctor urged
him to fly there for immediate treatment. He is currently under his
cardiologist’s care in a Santa Barbara hospital, where he will remain
Utah assistant coach Kerry Rupp will guide the team in Majerus’ absence.
The Utes are 15-5 this season, including a 3-2 mark in the Mountain West
