Hoosiers center Ewing suspended

Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) – Indiana Hoosiers center Patrick Ewing, Jr.
has been suspended from the team due to academic issues.

The freshman did not join his teammates on a road trip to State College
against Penn State. The Nittany Lions host Indiana at the Bryce Jordan Center
on Wednesday evening.

Ewing, one of seven Indiana players to appear in all 20 contests this season,
has made six starts and is averaging 2.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.

“Since the start of Big Ten play, Penn State has been one of the top
rebounding teams in the league, so we will miss Pat’s presence inside,”
Hoosiers coach Mike Davis said in a release. “But this decision hopefully
sends a message to our entire team that their classwork is, should and always
will be the top priority at Indiana.”

Ewing tallied a career-high 12 points and 12 rebounds in a 77-57 win versus
Morehead State on December 23 for the first double-double of his collegiate
career.
