Charlotte wins despite Brown’s suspension

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) – Charlotte’s senior point guard and three-year
starter Demon Brown was suspended prior to the 49ers’ 77-71 upset over the
ninth-ranked Louisville Cardinals because of his Monday arrest for
communicating threats.

Brown was arrested Monday after three people claimed he flashed a gun at them
at an apartment near the university. Brown, who averages 12.6 points a game,
was not charged with any offenses involving firearms.

Sophomore Mitchell Baldwin scored 13 points with six assists and five rebounds
starting in place of Brown, committing only one turnover.

Curtis Withers poured in a game-high 23 points to lead the 49ers in the
Conference USA matchup from Halton Arena. Charlotte (15-5, 7-2 C-USA) pulled
off its third win of the season over a top-10 team.
