Duquesne extends Nee
Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) – Duquesne University on Monday extended the
contract of men’s head basketball coach Danny Nee.
Nee received a two-year extension that will keep him with the university
through the 2007-08 season.
Nee, who had two years left on his original contract, was named the 14th head
coach of the program on April 4, 2001. He has led the Dukes to an 11-14 record
this season — the most wins since the 1997-98 season.
“Danny has given the program stability, structure and direction,” Duquesne
director of athletics Brian Colleary said. “He has a clear vision of what he
wants this program to be and he is committed to getting there the right way.”
He will take a 398-333 career mark into Saturday’s season finale versus the
Nee ranks second only to Temple legendary coach John Chaney among Atlantic 10
coaches in seasons coached and wins.
“I look forward to continuing to build a successful basketball program here at
Duquesne,” Nee said.
