Murray State player suspended for tournament
Murray, KY (Sports Network) – Murray State forward Kelvin Brown, the team’s
second leading scorer at 12.7 points per game, has been suspended indefinitely
after getting arrested on drug charges last week.
Brown will miss the Racers’ NCAA Tournament first-round game against fifth-
seeded Illinois on Friday, but junior Adam Chiles, who was also involved in
the incident, will be available to play in the contest.
“Based on the information we have been furnished, coupled with the past
records of the student-athletes, Kelvin Brown has been suspended from the team
indefinitely,” said Murray State athletic director E.W. Dennison “On the other
hand, the information regarding Adam Chiles does not in our opinion merit his
suspension from the team and he will be allowed to participate in the NCAA
Chiles, a guard, averages 10.2 points and 5.5 assists for the 12th-seeded
Racers (28-5), the Ohio Valley Conference champions.
“The incidents involving two of our players this past weekend are very
regretful to say the least. I fully support the actions of the university and
the athletic department,” said first-year head coach Mick Cronin.
