Monte Towe agrees to new deal with Privateers

New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) – New Orleans men’s basketball coach Monte
Towe agreed Wednesday to a new five-year contract that will run through the
2008-09 season.

“Monte Towe proved this year that he can bring the University of New Orleans
basketball back to major prominence,” said athletic director Jim Miller. “The
future is bright for the program.”

Towe led the Privateers to a 17-14 record this past season, including a trip
to the Sun Belt Conference title game. In three seasons with New Orleans, Towe
has compiled an overall record of 47-42.

“I just want to thank all of my players because without the players this
contract could not be possible,” said Towe. “We are looking forward to taking
this program to the next step and that is postseason play.”
