Relph, Young transfer out of West Virginia
Morgantown, VA (Sports Network) – West Virginia men’s basketball coach John
Beilein announced Friday that freshmen Tyler Relph and Jerrah Young have
decided to transfer from school.
Relph, who played in all 31 games this season with five starts, averaged 5.0
points, 1.5 assists and 17.7 minutes per contest. The six-foot guard from
Victor, New York, scored a season-high 12 points in the Mountaineers’ loss to
Florida in the Orange Bowl Classic back on December 20.
Young, a 6-6 forward, started three of the 21 contests he played in this
season and averaged under a point a contest to go along with 1.5 boards.
“Both Tyler and Jerrah worked hard for us in the classroom and on the court,”
Beilein said. “Our basketball staff appreciated their efforts this past
season. While I am disappointed at their decision, I understand that it is a
part of college basketball today.”
The Mountaineers finished the 2003-04 season with a 17-14 record and advanced
to the second round of the NIT before losing to Big East Conference rival
