Xavier’s Bobinski leaves AD post
Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) – Xavier University athletic director Mike
Bobinski is leaving his post to take over as the university’s associate vice
president for development.
Bobinski led the Musketeers’ athletic department for nearly six years. Among
his accomplishments was the hiring of men’s head basketball coach Thad Matta,
who led the school to the Atlantic-10 tournament title and the Elite Eight
this past season.
“Through Mike’s impressive credentials and leadership abilities, the Xavier
University athletic program has reached new heights,” said Xavier president
Michael Graham. “We are grateful and excited that he is willing to accept this
new opportunity on behalf of the University’s fundraising and development
efforts. His influence will now extend far beyond athletics, into the
academic, service and spiritual aspects of Xavier.”
Bobinski’s new position reports to the vice president for university relations
and is responsible for providing leadership to all aspects of the development
office. Bobinski will oversee the offices of planned giving, annual giving,
major gifts/capital campaign, grant services and internal operations.
“I believe completely in Xavier’s mission and look forward to being part of
the University’s bright future,” said Bobinski. “I’m grateful for the
opportunity to have worked with our student-athletes, coaches and staff and am
confident that they will enjoy even greater success in the years to come.”
The search for a new athletic director will begin immediately with a goal of
identifying a successor in June.
