And1 – ESPN “The Streetball Mixtape Tour”
ESPN RENEWS “STREET BALL: THE AND 1 MIX TAPE® TOUR PRESENTED BY MDCR” FOR TWO MORE YEARS
Paoli, PA – Monday, May 24, 2004
Seth Berger, CEO of basketball footwear and apparel company AND 1, today announced the search is on again for the next playground legend.
AND 1 and ESPN Inc. have signed a two-year deal to produce the third and fourth seasons of ESPN’s Original Entertainment (EOE) show, “Street Ball: The AND 1 Mix Tape® Tour presented by Mountain Dew Code Red” in conjunction with the 2004 and 2005 AND 1 Mix Tape Tour, renewing the wildly popular series.
Last summer’s season of “Street Ball: The AND 1 Mix Tape® Tour” saw the rise of an unknown community college baller from rural Oregon earn his own streetball moniker and ultimately be crowned the next playground legend. Formerly known as Grayson Boucher, ‘The Professor’ won his way onto the tour after fighting it out during Open Run in Portland on June 8th, 2003 earning a spot on the tour bus and an opportunity at an AND 1 endorsement contract. After months of wowing the fans and players alike on the tour and the show, Professor was chosen to join the tour in 2004.
During this summer’s 30-city AND 1 Mix Tape Tour, presented by Mountain Dew Code Red, a summer-long playground basketball tour featuring the nation’s best playground basketball players taking on local talent, ESPN will again document AND 1’s search for the next Mix Tape player. There will be an Open Run before each Mix Tape game during which ballers will compete for a spot on the AND 1 roster, while ESPN cameras roll to capture it all.
Each season of the show will be 10 episodes, with this season’s launch debuting on ESPN2 with two new episodes on Tuesday, July 6th at 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. This season continues with eight more half-hour episodes within ESPN2’s Tuesday night programming block. The full schedule of original air-dates for season three is as follows (all times are listed E.S.T.):

Episode 10: Tuesday, July 31st @ 12:30 a.m. (9:30 p.m. P.T.)
“In this third season, the competition for a spot on the bus is going to be incredibly intense,” said Berger. “Ballers have had two summers to scout other players and figure out how to beat them with their own moves and then some. It should make for our own brand of “must see tv” on a whole different level of basketball.”
Only one player can follow in ‘the Professor’s’ footsteps to be rewarded with an AND 1 endorsement contract at the end of the season, but fans must tune in to find out who is going to step up and be the next big thing, announced during the season finale.
