Killingsworth withdraws from NBA Draft; leaving Auburn

Auburn, AL (Sports Network) – Marco Killingsworth, Auburn’s leading scorer and
rebounder withdrew from the NBA Draft on Tuesday and is leaving the University,
according to head coach Jeff Lebo.

Killingsworth, a senior, who averaged 13.7 points and 6.9 rebounds to lead the
SEC for the second-consecutive season this past year requested his release
from the University.

“This is certainly typical with coaching transitions,” Lebo said. “Marco is
looking for a fresh start.”

Killingsworth, who did not hire an agent, will have to sit out one full year.
He will be eligible to play in the 2005-06 season and will then have one year
of eligibility remaining.

“I have decided to pull my name from the 2004 NBA Draft,” Killingsworth said.
“I am returning to college to finish my degree and will continue to improve my

Killingsworth finished his three-year Auburn career with 1,041 points for the
Tigers’, which places him 25th on Auburn’s all-time list along with 523

“I have spoken with Coach Lebo and have received my release from Auburn and
will transfer. This decision has nothing to do with the new coaching staff. I
appreciate Coach Lebo’s support.

Killingsworth, an All-SEC second-team pick by the league’s coaches, had until
June 17 to make a decision on whether to return to school. The draft is set
for June 24 at Madison Square Garden.
