Tallahassee, FL (Sports Network) – Florida A&M University extended the
contract of men’s head basketball coach Mike Gillespie for three more years.
The new deal, which takes effect on July 1, will keep Gillespie at the school
through the 2007-08 season.
Gillespie had his base salary increased from $101,400 to $125,000 and will
also receive financial incentives for postseason accomplishments.
He just completed his third season with the Rattlers and has guided the team
to back-to-back winning records in the MEAC for the first time in 10 years.
This past season, Florida A&M finished with just a 15-17 record. However, the
Rattlers captured the conference tournament title and earned a berth in the
NCAA Tournament. After defeating Lehigh in the opening round, Florida A&M lost
to Kentucky in the first round of the St. Louis bracket.
