AND1 Mixtape tour 2004 – SALT LAKE CITY

Salt Lake City, UT
Saturday, June 19, 2004

The players of the 2004 AND 1 Mix Tape Tour dazzled the crowd of over 5000 at the “E” Center in Salt Lake City tonight. AND 1 put on a show while defeating the Salt Lake squad, 112-98.

Tonight was an elimination game for ESPN2’s reality show “Street Ball: The AND 1 Mix Tape Tour” as players “Exile- the Young One” (Roberto Yong, picked up in Sacramento) and “Father Time” (Deshun Jackson, picked up in Los Angeles) were kicked off and former Utah State player Cardell Butler, a.k.a. “Ballahollic” stepped up and was invited to come out on the road.

Utah saw a basketball performance like they’d never seen before as dribbling battles and alley-oop dunks wowed the crowd throughout the game. Helicopter, Go Get It, Main Event, Alimoe and 50 all threw down some serious dunks, including one that A.O. dished to Helicopter that he took between his legs and over his head jamming so ridiculously that the entire crowd rose to their feet and swung rally towels. 50 was the high scorer for AND 1, putting up 27 points.

For the rights to continue on in the running for AND 1’s search for the next playground legend, the players on the Salt Lake squad really had something to prove. “757” (Sante Gale, picked up in Oakland) posted serious numbers with 38 points (game-high scorer) and 16 boards, including 3 major dunks. “Spook” (Charles Davis, picked up in Phoenix) also showed his skills breaking down some of the AND 1 players with his dribbling moves while contributing eight points and five rebounds. They both earned the right to play again in the tour’s next stop in Denver on Monday.
