Central Florida’s Speraw receives contract extension

Orlando, FL (Sports Network) – Central Florida announced Thursday that men’s
basketball coach Kirk Speraw has been given a three-year contract extension.

Speraw, whose new deal will keep him with the program through the 2006-07
season, has compiled a 171-154 in 11 years with the school.

“Kirk has earned this extension through his hard work and dedication,” UCF
athletic director Steve Orsini said. “He has done a great job with the UCF
basketball program in the Atlantic Sun Conference and we are committed to
seeing the growth of the program continue as it makes the transition to
Conference USA.”

The Golden Knights finished last season 25-6 and advanced to the NCAA
Tournament for the third time since moving to Division I in 1984.
