Huskies suspend four players for season opener

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) – Four Washington men’s basketball players will
be held out of the November 19 season-opener against Seattle Pacific after
being declared ineligible for a secondary NCAA rules infraction.

Senior guard Will Conroy and junior forwards Bobby Jones and Jamaal Williams
will not play against Seattle Pacific, while senior guard Tre Simmons will
miss that game and the November 25 contest against Utah in the Great Alaska

The four players participated in an organized basketball competition in
violation of the NCAA rule prohibiting Division I student-athletes from
playing in outside competition during the academic year. They participated in
one game during May in a league at a SeaTac area gym. Simmons participated in
two games.

Conroy, Jones and Simmons played in all 31 games last season for the Huskies,
who finished 19-12.
